1. Who we are

Tetherwallex (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Tetherwallex website and services. We are the data controller responsible for your personal data processed through the Service. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. Data we collect

• Account data: email address, a hashed password, your assigned nickname, and (if you log in with a wallet) your public wallet address.
• Exchange data: the exchange UID (public member ID) you register. We never collect your exchange password, API keys, or withdrawal permissions.
• Payout data: a wallet address you provide for withdrawals, where applicable.
• Community data: content you post, and the IP address associated with a post or comment (used for moderation and to prevent abuse; only a masked form is displayed publicly).
• Technical data: limited information such as language/region preference and essential cookies needed to run the Service.

3. How and why we use your data (legal bases)

• To create and operate your account, register your UID, and provide cashback-related features — performance of a contract.
• To respond to enquiries, prevent fraud and abuse, secure the Service, and improve it — our legitimate interests.
• To comply with legal obligations where applicable — legal obligation.
• For any optional processing that requires it — your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

4. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your language preference. These are required for the Service to function. We do not use advertising cookies. If we introduce analytics or other non-essential cookies in future, we will ask for your consent first.

5. Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Service providers (processors) who host and run the Service on our behalf, such as our hosting and database providers, under appropriate data-processing terms.
• Exchanges, only to the extent you choose to sign up via our referral link; your relationship with an exchange is governed by its own privacy policy.
• Authorities, where required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

6. International transfers

Our hosting and database infrastructure may store and process data on servers located outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law (such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement / standard contractual clauses).

7. How long we keep your data

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• access a copy of your personal data;
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• request erasure of your data in certain circumstances;
• restrict or object to certain processing;
• data portability;
• withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including hashing passwords and restricting access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to address any incident promptly.

10. Children

The Service is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date and, where changes are material, take reasonable steps to notify you.
